Geckotech Announces Approval of CLEC License
(Chicago, IL) – Geckotech LLC announced today the approval of its Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) license by the Illinois Commerce Commission.

The company currently offers an all-inclusive bundled service which incorporates private T1 voice and data service, Cisco network hardware and IP phones, unlimited local and long distance calling, installation, network maintenance and management, efax, conferencing, and unified communications.
With the license, Geckotech can provide local and long distance service as a telecom carrier, as opposed to a reseller of such traffic. Licensing as a CLEC will allow Geckotech to reduce costs on trunk rates from ILECs (Incumbent local exchange carriers), which will translate to more cost effective service to customers.
Becoming a CLEC allows Geckotech to obtain and control its own phone numbers, as opposed to paying a fee or licensing such numbers from carriers, as most Voice over IP companies must do. The reduction in line charges permits Geckotech to purchase capacity from incumbent phone companies at better rates than other Voice over IP companies or ISPs. The time to port new customer’s phone numbers to Geckotech will be significantly reduced, further diminishing the time it takes to install new clients.
